On 1 January 2020 the Energy Regulatory Office’s Price Decision No. 3/2019 of 26 September 2019 came into effect, establishing support for supported energy sources for the coming year. In this context, categories AF2 and AF1, as defined by Decree No. 477/2012 Coll., are also cancelled, together with the unification of the category of biomass and the process of its utilization, into a single AF category, especially to avoid complications in the checking of this measure, and also to promote the use of sustainable fuels and to improve the distribution of waste and optimize the import distances of inputs, as reflected in the Energy Regulatory Office’s justification in addressing the comments concerning the draft Decision. As a result of this unification of the fuel production inputs, biogas plants using the AF2 category inputs have access to higher support for renewable energy sources, provided that other relevant conditions are fulfilled, in particular as regards the plant commissioning date or the use of effective heat to a minimum level.
